It's only human to feel anxious - sometimes!

However, prolonged anxiety and stress can be a real problem - as you are no doubt aware since you are reading this.

Allowed to get out of control, stress and anxiety can ruin our quality of life and often make us physically ill.  

Maybe when you wake in the morning - as soon as you open your eyes - you begin to feel a sense of dread.

Perhaps you suffer panic attacks, or a lot of the time you feel panicky and nervous, and you find it a struggle to relax and enjoy things.  

Maybe you find it difficult to get off to sleep, or when you do, you wake up in the night or early morning and struggle to get back to sleep because that uneasy feeling kicks in straight away.

Having suffered from anxiety and panic attacks in the past, I know how absolutely debilitating (and at times terrifying) these symptoms can be.

Symptoms of stress and anxiety are many and varied, but some of the most common are:

  • Generalised feelings of anxiety

  • Panic attacks

  • Irritability

  • Headaches

  • Nausea/vomiting (especially in the morning)

  • Insomnia or poor sleeping patterns

  • Obsessive or compulsive behaviours

  • Increased use of alcohol, tobacco or drugs

  • Change in eating habits

  • Worsening of existing health problems, such as IBS, eczema, psoriasis

All of these are the consequences of anxiety or stress getting out of control, and it can truly seem like your life will never get back to normal again.
